AI Visibility Information Checklist
A practical checklist for improving the completeness, consistency, and machine readability of published business information.
This checklist does not promise ranking, citation, recommendation, traffic, customers, bookings, sales, or revenue. It helps a business document facts that people and compatible systems may use.
Establish a baseline
- Record the exact business name, address, phone, URL, hours, categories, services, and service area.
- Run repeatable business-name and category prompts on relevant AI products.
- Save the exact prompt, date, platform, response, and cited sources.
- Keep AI-response observations separate from first-party traffic, calls, bookings, and sales.
- Treat an omission as a prompt-level observation, not proof that the business does not exist.
Review relevant profiles
- Claim the Google Business Profile where eligible.
- Review Apple Business Connect where relevant.
- Review Bing Places where relevant.
- Check appropriate map, directory, review, and industry-specific services.
- Correct substantive conflicts in contact details, hours, categories, services, and URLs.
- Follow each platform's ownership, verification, review, and content policies.
- Keep a record of which profile is claimed, current, pending, or unavailable.
Not every business belongs on every platform. A profile can make facts available within that provider's ecosystem, but it does not guarantee downstream use or placement.
Review the website
- Publish accurate contact, location, service, and policy information as visible page content.
- Add applicable Schema.org types only for facts that visitors can verify on the page.
- Validate structured data with the Schema.org validator and relevant provider tools.
- Keep structured data aligned with the visible website when facts change.
- Use clear page titles, headings, internal links, and crawlable text.
Structured data labels facts for compatible parsers. It does not force a search engine or AI system to use, rank, cite, or recommend them.
Improve useful context
- Answer real customer questions in plain language.
- Explain services, locations, eligibility, accessibility, and booking or contact routes accurately.
- Request and respond to authentic reviews within each platform's rules.
- Correct inaccurate third-party references where the publisher provides a legitimate process.
Maintain and measure
- Review profiles and website facts after material business changes.
- Repeat comparable AI visibility tests and preserve the full evidence.
- Measure commercial outcomes with first-party analytics and attribution.
- Re-check provider documentation because capabilities and policies change.
The bottom line
Accurate profiles, clear content, and valid structured data can improve information quality and machine readability. Their effect varies by platform, source, query, and context.
